Water in Yard
Step 2 of 3: Select Capacity
Pooling water in your yard can create muddy areas that kill grass and attract mosquitoes. An NDS drainage system can save you money and headaches by moving water away from the problem area. NDS has the products and expertise you need to do it right.
Water in Yard - Low Capacity Option
Low Capacity 6 - 8 Hours
-
We generally recommend higher capacity systems if you live in an area with: 1) frequent and/or heavy rains, or 2) soils high in clay or silt content, or 3) a high volume of storm water is converging on the problem area, or 4) a need to retain and percolate storm water into the ground on the property. For water in your yard, the high and medium capacity solutions capture and carry water to a dry well, which allows it to slowly percolate into the ground. The low capacity solution captures surface water and carries it away before discharging to a water-safe area downstream.

Tools Needed:
- Saw
- Level
- Measuring Tape
- Pick
- Shovel
- PVC Glue
- Plastic or Tarp
- Clear Waterproof Silicone
- Trenching Machine (optional)
-
Quantity needed of each part will vary based on several factors specific to your project including system length, rainfall intensity, and number of problem areas. Pipe and fittings are offered in two sizes: 3" and 4". Size availability will vary based on region and store. Ensure that component sizes are consistent throughout your drainage system.
We took a shot at estimating the amount of time and labor involved in this project for the average 40-year-old male hand-digging all trenches and holes. You can shorten your installation time significantly by using a trencher or hiring help to do the digging.
