SOLUTION

Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) had been working with Sugar Land to identify opportunities to utilize HP Storm polypropylene pipe on stormwater conveyance projects. When plans were developed for the new stormwater sewer line, ADS representatives attended the pre-bid meeting and advocated for HP Storm as a more efficient alternative to traditional materials.

To demonstrate the advantages, ADS utilized its Pipe Value Tool, which illustrated significant project benefits. The analysis showed that HP Storm would deliver more than $218,000 in overall. cost savings, reduce installation time by 14 days and would require 23 fewer truckloads of material deliveries. After seeing the HP Storm advantage, WadeCon LLC, the contractor, worked with the city to move forward with HP Storm for the project. Ultimately, 990 feet (302 meters) of 60-inch (1,500-millimeter) HP Storm pipe was installed to convey stormwater to a nearby bayou.

The pilot project proved highly successful, leading the City of Sugar Land to approve HP Storm for future use. Since then, the pipe has been specified on numerous stormwater projects throughout the city.
