Railways & Ports

Our products provide durable and heavy duty stormwater solutions that support the heavy demands railways require.

Trusted Along Railway and Ports Nationwide

Resistant to coastal and corrosive conditions, ADS N-12 HDPE and HP Polypropylene pipe systems are commonly used for underground stormwater conveyance and detention applications installed beneath rail infrastructure, where they remain unaffected by the substantial vertical and dynamic loads generated by locomotives and heavy freight traffic. Engineered to withstand repeated wheel loads, vibration and long-term operational stresses, including applications exceeding Cooper E80 live load requirements, ADS delivers reliable structural and joint performance for decades.

Applications

Yards & Terminals

  • Design and construction are made easy through providing world class products, technical support and long-term solutions that meet Cooper E80 loading and require minimal maintenance.
  • Underground storage systems provide opportunities to expand access roads, parking and storage space allowing optimization of land use.
  • In large, flat areas where drainage is challenging, project design is simplified with catch basins that integrate seamlessly with slot, channel and underdrain systems.
  • In maintenance areas where water quality is essential, ADS offers a broad range of best-in-class water quality treatment systems.

Mainline

  • When open cut culverts are needed, ADS N-12 HDPE per AASHTO M294/ASTM F2306 or HP Polypropylene pipe per AASHTO M330/ASTM F2881 or ASTM F2764, have been tested and proven to withstand the test of time against Cooper E80 live loads.
  • ADS underdrain pipe per AASHTO M252 is a sound solution to insure the subgrade drains properly and maintains optimum performance.
  • Plastic pipe offers long-term consisted performance through their watertight joints and resiliency against corrosion, abrasion and other environmental impacts.

Passenger Transit

High Speed Rail
When precision and longevity matter, superior joint integrity and environmentally inert drainage solutions deliver reliable performance for the demanding drainage requirements of high-speed rail systems. Speed up design and estimating with powerful online tools, while nationwide manufacturing and a dedicated fleet of trucks and trailers ensure N-12 HDPE and HP Storm polypropylene pipe is delivered quickly to help keep projects on schedule.

Light Rail
Effective stormwater management for commuter rail systems and stations starts with an integrated approach that includes catch basins, linear drains, conveyance pipe, underground storage and water quality treatment. Whether routing runoff beneath tracks, around rail corridors or away from passenger areas, N-12 HDPE and HP Storm polypropylene pipe provide long-term durability with a 100-year service life.
