Durability is Key to Kingman Desert Installation

To meet these demands, the project team required a durable, high-performance piping solution capable of simplifying installation in remote conditions while delivering long-term reliability.

SOLUTION

Sunrise Engineering selected Advanced Drainage Systems’ (ADS) SaniTite HP polypropylene pipe over PVC, recognizing its superior performance in demanding installation conditions. Engineered for strength and reliability, SaniTite HP features a bell-and-spigot joint system with dual factory installed gaskets, providing enhanced protection against infiltration.

Beyond its performance benefits, SaniTite HP offered practical advantages that helped streamline construction. Its lightweight design simplified handling and installation, readily available inventory supported project schedules, and its cost-effectiveness delivered significant value compared to traditional piping materials.

In total, 11,780’ (3,591 m) of 15”-24” (375-600 mm) SaniTite HP pipe was installed. Several sections required specialized installation techniques, including sliplining pipe through casings beneath desert wash areas and routing the system through natural drainage corridors.

Despite these challenging conditions, SaniTite HP performed exceptionally well. The pipe withstood the forces generated by custom-built installation equipment as it was pushed through the wash casings, demonstrating the toughness and structural integrity required for the project.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS

SaniTite HP couples advanced polypropylene resin technology with a proven 12”-30” (300-750 mm) dual wall and 30”-60” (750-1500 mm) triple wall profile design for superior performance and durability. SaniTite HP meets and exceeds typical standards for pipe stiffness and joint integrity. The polypropylene pipe is an inert material that is chemically resistant to hydrogen sulfide gas and sulfuric acid concentrations typical of sanitary sewers.
