This document is the diagram for the 1209 USGA Bunker Drainage Profile Sand Trap (Perf HDPE) Detail.

The diagram shows where the sod should be held in place with stakes, where the line of play is and the maximum slope. The maximum slope should be 1:1. It should have a well-compacted subgrade. There should be a perforated 4” HDPE Pipe for drainage.

This diagram includes notes. The notes indicate that the trench must be no less than 6” wide and 8” deep. Use trench backfill that is compatible with the sand in the bunker to create a bridging factor. Bunker dimensions and configurations vary. Bunkers subject to field verifications and adjustment by golf course architect. Please reference the drawing for more information.
