Grain-Aire Pipe Specification

The document is the ADS Grain Aire® pipe specification piece. Grain Aire is utilized in aeration systems.

The specification describes 18”-36” (450-900 mm) Grain Aire pipe for use in metering air and providing uniform flow air in flat storage structures. It describes pipe requirements, joint performance, material properties, perforations and the protective screen.

Grain Aire pipe shall have a smooth interior and annular exterior corrugations and be covered with a polypropylene screen to provide unrestricted air flow. The pipe is joined with split or snap couplers covering at least two corrugations on each end of the pipe.

The material properties of the pipe and fittings shall be high density polyethylene conforming with the minimum requirements of cell classification 424400C as defined and described in the latest version of ASTM D3350.

The perforation information is shown in a table that tells the pipe diameter, numbers of corrugations per pipe foot, the number of holes per foot, the minimum hole diameter and the open area per foot.

Information given in the protective screen table is bursting strength, weight, open area percentage and tensile strength for the polypropylene material. It also states which ASTM standard the bursting strength, weight, open area percentage and tensile strength meet.
