This document shows the 114 Concrete Headwall Encased Connection Detail. The installation view, connection view and notes are provided.

The installation view shows the ADS N-12 or HP Storm, pipe to terminate with plain end and ensure backfill is placed under pipe and properly compacted.

The detailed connection view shows the stainless steel take-up clamp, optional embedded WaterStop gasket and concrete headwall.

Notes state that the WaterStop gasket shown is optional based on connection performance. Performance highly dependent on proper installation. Contractor to ensure gasket is uniformly seated. Pipe at and around encasement to be installed per ASTM 2321. Care should be taken to knife backfill material under and around haunch area of pipe. The need for erosion control directly downstream of the headwall should be considered.
