The Dobson Road and Chandler Boulevard intersection is part of a main thoroughfare in Chandler. The city spent $4.5 million on road widening, including bike lanes, turn lanes and storm drains.

PRODUCTS USED

Originally, the storm drainage was specified as rubber-gasketed RCP. To help control costs and meet various burial requirements, the project was flipped to SaniTite HP. The burial depths were between 3’ and 18’ (0.9 and 5.5 m), while the 60” (1500 mm) pipe was covered by 21’ (6.4 m) of fill.

Standard Construction Co. was the project contractor and found SaniTite HP very easy to install. The light weight made the pipe more maneuverable and could be installed using smaller equipment. The pipe could be installed more quickly than the 8’ (2.4 m) sections of RCP. The intersection was the first public right-of-way project in Arizona to utilize HP pipe. As a result, HP pipe would be able to be specified for future right-of-way road projects in Chandler.
