The Gathering Place is a well-renowned park along Tulsa’s waterfront on the Arkansas River and is Tulsa’s number one attraction.

PRODUCTS USED

Five of the 66 acres include playgrounds with zip lines, suspension bridges, a skate park, basketball courts, meadows and paths.

Prior to building the Gathering Place, an underground stormwater system was added to remove the undersized pipelines, which caused flooding in the area.

Under two parking lots, detention beds were built using 114 StormTech MC-3500 chambers to detain and slow the outflow of stormwater. The rest of the chambers were used as retention beds with the stormwater recharging the onsite groundwater.

Originally RCP was specified, but changed to plastic pipe due to cost savings, ability to install more quickly and being able to change the layout as pipe was being installed or after the fact. The HP Storm and N-12 pipe was used to connect the chambers together and for conveyance.
