- 13,000’ (3,962 m) of 24”-60” (600-1500 mm) of HP Storm Dual Wall Pipe
A new stormwater drainage system was required because the old RCP system had joint failures causing sinkholes.
Originally, the project was designed for RCP, but the joint engineering venture of Waggoner Engineering and AJA Management & Technical Services wanted less pipe joints. Therefore, HP Storm was chosen because of its 20’ (6 m) lengths as compared to RCP’s 8’ (2.4 m). HP Storm pipe in diameters of 24”-60” (600-1500 mm) not only replaced the failing pipe, but was utilized for new stormwater drainage runs.
The pipe length was also a determining factor as it increased installation speed. Shutting down a runway or multiple taxiways for an extended amount of time was not an option. The HP Storm pipe was installed as the old pipe was removed with burial depths ranging from 4’-16’ (1.2-4.9).
