Precast concrete manhole installed in an excavated trench, surrounded by crushed stone bedding, with a black internal insert visible and a level resting on the gravel during installation.
After the Arcadia Hydrodynamic Separator received New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) certification in May 2025, Indianapolis added Arcadia to the city’s approved list of water quality treatment products.

PRODUCTS USED

Prior to NJDEP approval, ADS representatives had been working closely with Indianapolis officials to demonstrate Arcadia’s performance and value. The city utilizes a rigorous review process and remains committed to clean stormwater.

Indianapolis’ approval directly led to Arcadia being specified for the new Andretti Global racing facility, which was a renovation of an existing building. Andretti Global, a motorsports organization founded by Michael Andretti in the early 2000s, operates two facilities in the metropolitan area. Arcadia was selected for the project as the most cost-effective hydrodynamic separator that complies with the NJDEP protocol as required by the city for new developments.

Solution

ADS provided support throughout the pre-installation and installation phases. ADS representatives assisted the precaster responsible for fabricating the concrete vault, as well as the contractor, Brothers Excavating, with preparation of the precast manhole and Arcadia’s internal components. Once the internal pieces arrived on site, ADS representatives supported the installation into the precast structure to ensure proper assembly and performance.

Since this installation, Arcadia has seen a boom across the Indianapolis area. By late 2025, nearly 20 Arcadia units had been installed at schools and a variety of commercial projects.

Product Description

Arcadia is designed to remove total suspended solids (TSS) in a single manhole design. Arcadia has variable inlet/outlet angle configurations and there is no elevation loss between the inlet and outlet. The innovative design mitigates turbulence in the sump to prevent resuspension of captured contaminants. The internal components install easily in either an ADS HP manhole or a precast manhole. Arcadia has easy maintenance using a vacuum truck and inspection and maintenance are performed from the surface with no confined space entry.
