N-12 Comparison Sheet

This document provides the properties for N-12® HDPE corrugated dual wall pipe per ASTM F2648 & AASHTO M294 standards for the following: pipe material, resin density, melt index, flexural modulus, tensile strength at yield, pipe flattening, brittleness, UV stabilizer, 12”-24" pipe stiffness, recommended backfill soil, minimum cover and maximum cover.

N-12® corrugated dual wall pipe is engineered with a material compound that provides an exceptional infrastructure product with enhanced social responsibility. Today’s N-12® (per ASTM F2648) pipe is engineered with a compound of virgin and recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) resins to provide impressive material properties & performance. N-12® (per ASTM F2648) is available in diameters from 4”-60” (100-1500 mm).

The benefits of using N-12® pipe (per ASTM F2648) include the following: N-12® pipe consists of quality recycled resins with innovative blending materials, N-12® HDPE corrugated dual wall pipe utilizes engineered compounds to minimize impact of raw materials on infrastructure costs, N-12® pipe is made from socially responsible recycled compounds, the use of recycled products increases demand for recycled products, the use of recycled building materials earns LEED credits and recycled materials have proven to be viable for decades for other building materials.

AASHTO M 294 provides the Standard Specification for Corrugated Polyethylene Pipe, 12- to 60-inch (300- to 1500-mm) diameter.

ASTM F2648 is the Standard Specification for 2 in. to 60 in. (50 mm to 1500 mm) Annular Corrugated Profile Wall Polyethylene (PE) Pipe and Fittings for Land Drainage Applications. The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) provides standards that are formal, technical requirements that establish quality specifications for a wide range of materials, products, systems, and services; they serve as the basis for manufacturing, procurement, and regulatory activities worldwide.
