HP Storm Used for Emergency Repair on California Highway 1

This document is the HP Storm California Highway 1 Case Study. HP Storm used for emergency repair to CA Highway 1 is discussed.

An emergency repair was needed on Highway 1 after a debris slide caused damage to culverts in areas of San Luis Obispo and Monterey Counties.

HP Storm was requested because of its structural integrity, joint integrity, quick installation and availability. HP Storm is manufactured in Medera, CA and is 5% the weight of RCP, making it cost effective and easy to transport to the job site.

The installation was done in Summer of 2021 using 240’ (73 m) of 24” (600 mm) HP Storm pipe.

Photographs of the project are included.
